BABY STOLEN FROM TORORO HOSPITAL AS SECURITY LAPSES RAISE CONCERNS

Write news 8th to  A one-day-old baby was stolen u from Tororo General Hospital on January 29, 2026, exposing glaring security loopholes in the facility. The suspect, posing as a caretaker, sneaked into the maternity ward and disappeared with the newborn while the actual caretaker was out fetch u ing a bodaboda as the unknown suspect is on the ran with the infant. Bernard Ochieng Elected Tororo Municipality Mayor

   Bernard Ochieng has been declared the new Mayor of Tororo Municipality by Caroline Kincoco, the Returning Officer. Bernard Ochieng, the NRM candidate, won  with 4844 votes, followed by Kenneth Orono Nyapidi, the independent current mayor, with 2322 votes.  Other candidates include Omaidu Robert Etatai with 1652 votes, Makakanya Alexson with 192 votes, and Okudo Andrew with 69 votes.  Ochieng has committed to working with everyone and focusing on stalled projects left by his predecessor, Orono Nyapidi 

Amagoro Community Pays Tribute to 96-Year-Old Veronica Akwi

Tororo Municipality witnessed a heartfelt tribute to Veronica Akwi, a remarkable 96-year-old matriarch, during her burial sendoff at Amagoro B. Akwi, blessed with 12 children, 36 grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, left an enduring legacy of faith, family, and community service.
