Bukedi South Region Honors Police Excellence and Partners in Land Justice

Tororo, Uganda— In a vibrant show of unity and appreciation, the Bukedi South region convened a high-profile gathering to recognize outstanding police officers and key partners who have played a pivotal role in promoting justice and community development, particularly in resolving land-related disputes.

The event, presided over by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ayatola Kapchwmut, the Regional Police Commander, saw commendations awarded to several individuals and organizations for their unwavering support to the police force and the communities they serve. Among the honorees were Mitesh Dosh, CEO of Novo Enterprises and Tororo Cement Limited, as well as representatives from the Justice Center, Uganda Red Cross, Redeem International, and Tororo Media Networks.

“These partners have been instrumental in helping us investigate and resolve complex land-related cases that have long affected our people,” SSP Kapchwmut noted. “Their collaboration has strengthened our capacity to deliver justice and maintain peace.”

Reaffirming the Uganda Police Force’s commitment to stability, SSP Kapchemut emphasized that the force remains steadfast in its mission to uphold peace before, during, and after the upcoming elections. “Our duty to protect and serve does not waver with the political season,” he stated.

The ceremony was graced by a host of dignitaries, including the Resident District Commissioner and his deputy, the LCV Chairperson and deputy, Chief Administrative Officer of Butaleja, and District Police Commanders from Tororo, Busia, and Butaleja, alongside other senior officers.

A key highlight of the event was the celebration and official launch of the Bukedi Subcounty Police Model, a community-focused policing initiative already showing promise. SSP Kapchwmut praised the model’s effectiveness, citing tangible support such as land donations in Paya (Tororo) and Busolwe Town Council (Butaleja District) as evidence of growing public trust.

He concluded by urging officers to remain dedicated and professional in their service: “Let us always give our best to the communities we serve. Our integrity and commitment are the foundation of public confidence.”

The event marked a significant milestone in fostering collaboration between law enforcement and civil society, reinforcing the region’s collective resolve to build a safer, more just Bukedi South.
