Festive Season and End-of-Year Message from the Bukedi Regional Police Commander
The Regional Police Commander (RPC) of Bukedi South Region, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kapchemut Ayatollah, has delivered a heartfelt end-of-year message on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, the entire police fraternity, and himself. In his address, SSP Ayatollah extended deep gratitude to the Almighty for the gift of life and protection throughout 2025, and to the people of Bukedi South and Uganda at large for their continued cooperation and resilience.
He commended the public, stakeholders, partners, and the media for their unwavering support in safeguarding lives and property. Their collaborative efforts, especially in information sharing and community engagement, have been instrumental in advancing the police mandate and enhancing public safety.
The region recorded significant progress through Baraza forums and the implementation of the Sub-County Police Model Station, aimed at strengthening grassroots security.
The police, in partnership with stakeholders, actively sensitized communities on government initiatives such as Operation Wealth Creation (OWC), Emyooga, and the Parish Development Model (PDM).
With the 2026 general elections approaching, the region has maintained a largely peaceful political environment. Special Police Constables have been recruited and trained to ensure secure and fair electoral processes.
While acknowledging isolated incidents of violence during party primaries, the RPC urged the public to exercise their civic duties peacefully and lawfully. He warned against any form of electoral violence, emphasizing the police’s readiness to enforce the law and protect the democratic process.
As the festive season continues, mugwe advised the public to
Exercise self-discipline and act responsibly during celebrations.
Maintain vigilance and report suspicious individuals or activities, especially given the porous border with Kenya.
Avoid crowded gatherings unless proper safety measures are in place.
and Seek police clearance for large events to ensure adequate security support.
The RPC highlighted common crimes during the festive period, including theft, burglary, domestic violence, child-related offenses, and cattle rustling. He called on all citizens to be proactive in crime prevention and to uphold moral and civic responsibility.
The public is informed that fireworks displays will occur in designated areas across the region. Residents are urged to remain calm and enjoy the celebrations responsibly.
As Uganda approaches the 2026 elections, SSP Ayatollah reminded citizens to vote wisely and peacefully. “Politics comes and goes, but we remain. Let us not destroy our lives or infrastructure over political differences,” he emphasized.
He concluded by wishing everyone a joyful festive season and a prosperous New Year 2026.
