Rock High School Holds Annual General Meeting: Leaders Urge Parents to Uphold Discipline and Support School Development
Tororo, November 15 Rock High School held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Saturday, drawing a large turnout of parents, teachers, and education officials to assess the school’s development and address pressing concerns.
Speaking at the event, Tororo Municipality Member of Parliament, Hon. Apolo Yeri, commended the school’s academic achievements and urged parents may take an active role in guiding their children, especially during the upcoming holiday. His remarks came in response to reports from the school administration about some students bringing drugs to school. Yeri emphasized that parental involvement is vital in promoting discipline and supporting the school’s mission.
Gabriel Ochola, Chairperson of the Parents and Teachers Association (PTA), presented a progress report highlighting key accomplishments. These included the construction of two new dormitories and the renovation and equipping of the physics laboratory. He also stressed the importance of orientation programs for Senior 1 and Senior 5 students to ease their transition into the school environment.

Ochola noted that the PTA excuctive committee had inherited a large debt much of which now has been cleared. He expressed confidence that the remaining UGX 200 million would be settled with the with the cooperation of parents
Municipality Education Officer Teddy Makola praised the school’s leadership for its consistent progress. She confirmed that the school’s financial accounts had been audited by the Office of the Auditor General and encouraged the orientation of new parents to help them understand and embrace the school’s values.
Headteacher Ochago Faith Okongo expressed pride in the school’s academic and infrastructural strides but raised concerns over student discipline. She revealed that some students had been found using drugs and were handed over to their parents for rehabilitation. Okongo called on parents to reinforce discipline at home to support a safe and productive learning environment.

Despite rising food prices, Okongo reaffirmed the school’s commitment to maintaining a conducive atmosphere for learning and emphasized Rock High School’s dedication to transparency, accountability, and student success.
The meeting concluded with a renewed pledge from all stakeholders to work together in upholding the school’s standards and ensuring continued growth.
